Tinkle is a monthly English-language comics magazine tailored for children and the young-at-heart. Celebrated for its rich history, Tinkle features an array of iconic characters, including the perpetually unemployed Suppandi, the conservationist Shikari Shambu, the cunning vizier Tantri the Mantri, and the clever Kalia the Crow. For 35 years, it has provided stories that resonate with a diverse audience.

The visual nature of comics serves as an engaging medium to foster reading among children. Tinkle emphasizes this by offering narratives across various genres—from humor to social drama, adventure, and fantasy—ensuring that every reader encounters stories that pique their interest, encouraging further exploration into those genres. The magazine’s recent introduction of the superhero-action series, WingStar, has been particularly well-received nationwide.

Supporting this educational approach, a 2013 study from the University of Oklahoma indicates that comics enhance memory retention—a principle recognized by founders Mr. Anant Pai and Mr. Subba Rao in 1980.
